Networks

Since September 1998 the Centre for Housing Research has convened or attended a series of regional networks of local authority housing practitioners - made up of almost 100 local authority senior housing personnel, both administrative and technical. Membership of these networks is based on the principle of one senior nominee from the administrative side of the main housing authorities and one nominee from the technical side, usually a senior executive engineer or architect.
Each regional network meets on a quarterly basis at a venue that revolves among the local authorities. The agenda for these meetings addresses current housing management issues and issues decided by the network. The networks cover the following areas:

During 2001 there was considerable turnover in the members of the Housing Practitioners Networks and we are currently in the process of updating this section.

• The Dublin Regional Network
• The Midlands/ East Regional Network
• The South East Regional Network
• The South West Regional Network
• The Western Regional Network

In addition, each network nominates two members to the National Local Authority Housing Practitioners Forum which met for the first time on the 11th of March, 1999, and the urban local authority housing managers have also established an Urban Network to discuss the challenges of public housing management in urban areas in Ireland.
